Where can I find more information about the benefits of cloth diapers?

Check out the Real Diaper Association page for the latest information at http://www.realdiaperassociation.org/diaperfacts.php

How does the cost for cloth diaper service compare to using disposable diapers?

Our costs are designed to be similar to the use of disposable diapers, but our service will save you the hassle of having to worry about running out of diapers.  ´╗┐´╗┐´╗┐Studies have shown that the average cloth diapered baby potty trains approximately 1 year earlier than a disposable diapered baby.  There is also the added benefit of knowing that you are choosing the healthier choice for your baby and helping the environment at the same time.

Can I use the cloth diapers for household tasks?

Using the cloth diapers for anything other than diapering could reduce diaper absorbency and expose the diapers to harsh chemicals.  Because the diapers are owned by our service, they are only to be used for diapering as we take the quality of our products very seriously.  If it is suspected that diapers are being used for other purposes, your service may be cancelled and any advance payment forfeited.

How are the cloth diapers cleaned?

All of our diapers are professionally laundered according to healthcare standards using commercial grade washers.  We follow a wash process designed to ensure that each diaper is properly sanitized.  Diapers then go through three rinse cycles to remove any soap residue and return them to the same pH level as your baby’s skin.  Our diapers are tested monthly by a laboratory to make sure they meet healthcare standards.

Can I wash my own diapers?

Diapers owned by our service are not to be home laundered.  We work very carefully to ensure that our diapers are laundered to the specifications set by the Real Diaper Industry Association and healthcare standards.  Home laundering may result in your service being cancelled and any advance payment forfeited.

What if my baby cannot use cloth diapers at daycare?

If your daycare does not agree to use the cloth diapers, you can simply reduce your quantity so that you have only enough to diaper in the evening and on weekends.  Any time spent in cloth as opposed to disposables is beneficial to your baby.

What if I am going to be away on vacation?

Simply let us know in advance of the dates you plan to be away and we will put a hold on your service until you return.

What if I forget to leave the dirty diapers out for pick up?

We understand that life can be hectic, especially with a new baby. We will do our best to help you remember by sending a friendly email the evening before your scheduled date.  If you forget to leave your dirty diapers out, we will still leave your next delivery of clean diapers so that your baby can keep a fresh fanny.  We will simply pick up both loads of dirties on the next scheduled day.  We allow customers three missed pickups per year.  After your third instance of not leaving diapers out, you will be charged $5.00 per missed pick up.

How many diapers do I need?

Newborn babies typically use 10-11 diapers per day, which is about 80 diapers per week.  After the first several months, if you notice that you are using fewer diapers, let us know and we can reduce your amount.

How often do I need to change my baby’s diaper?

Whether you use cloth diapers or disposable diapers, they should be changed every 2-3 hours, or sooner if soiled.

What do I do with soiled diapers? Do I need to rinse them?

We do not ask that you rinse the diapers.  However, if there is solid matter that can be shaken in to the toilet, please do so.  Many find the use of biodegradable diaper liners useful once babies begin eating solid food.  The liner can simply be flushed and the diaper placed into the pail, making clean up much easier.

Will I get the same diapers back each week?

Because of the wash process the diapers go through each diaper is professionally sanitized and safe to use on your baby.  We cannot guarantee that you will receive the same diapers back each week if you rent our prefolds.

What supplies will I need to start cloth diapering?

All you need to get started is the desire to try cloth diapers. We will supply you with the diapers, a diaper pail with deodorizer disk and a pail liner.  We also offer rental diaper covers, in addition to other accessories for your convenience.
